In an operation launched against encroachers in Mehran Town, the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) retrieved plots of overseas Pakistanis from illegal occupants, a news source reported. KDA Director General (DG) Dr Badar Jameel has instructed the KDA’s Estate and Enforcement Wing to continue the operation.
The operation to retrieve plots of overseas Pakistan from land mafia was supervised by the KDA DG, while officials from Sindh Government, Rangers, Police, deputy commissioner office and concerned administration assisted the development authority in this endeavour.
DG Jameel said that all departments were on the same page against the land mafia. He also mentioned that the land mafia showed resistance, which the KDA handled with persistence and managed to free 80% of the illegally occupied parks, amenity plots, and sports grounds in the city.
He expressed the hope that the KDA would retrieve all of its land from illegal occupation by the end of this year. He said that the civic agency would launch development projects and public facilities on retrieved land.
